Subject: ANALOG SYNTH EMULATION
Is there a program for the GUS that works like the old analog synthisizers with
the ability to mix different basic waveforms to create your own unique sounds.
If there is, does it have the ability to save the new sound to a .pat file?

I have a choir patch which may work for you. I say "may" because I like
to compose choral music, so I made it fairly large for nicer quality. It
is 369K, which could make it too large to cache with a game like 7th
Guest. On the other hand, one of the samples (the really low "bass" one)
can be deleted without affecting it too much. (Just use Patchmaker and
extend down the next highest sample) That will make it 245K. Plus if you
fool around with the loop on the sample just mentioned, you should be
able to cut 30-50 more K off it (I haven't optimized the looping).
Needless to say, I hope you have 1 Meg on your GUS :-).
Anyway, I haven't been able to get into epas, so I'll put the
choir patch in my FTP directory--ftp.netcom.com in pub/jtcapps. The
filename will be newchoir.zip.
One note: In my opinion, this choir patch is better than the GUS's
original, but it has flaws. The split points are obvious, and the
samples that I used could be better. It sounds best in multipart choral
pieces, which is what I use it for (It's excellent for 16th century
polyphonic/Gregorian Chant type stuff). But fool with it, add to it, and
make it better (Then send me the result :-) ).
Also check out Phat's gusvox. I even used one of his samples to
fill out the "high end" of my patch (Thanks Phat).

Subject: MOD Disassembler
There's a MOD file disassembler now posted on EPAS for
those who want to take a MOD apart into its pieces. The
name is moddis00.zip and it was written by David Lai,
who asked me to post the announcement here. He included
sources.

Subject: PATCH SUSTAIN LENGTHS
Why is the sustain of some patches affected by which note is played and other
patches are not?
When playing the Acoustic Piano patch, the lowest and highest notes both
last the same amount of time but on other patches like Orchestra Hit,
the time the note stays on depends on which note you play (the lower notes
last longer than the higher notes).
